From the ashes of struggle rises the fire of conviction. Rashad Shabazz is not merely a man; he is the embodiment of resilience, a vessel of wisdom shaped by the trials of time. His journey began in the depths of adversity, yet he emerged not as a victim, but as a testament to the power of faith, knowledge, and unrelenting perseverance.
Born and raised in Florida, Rashad’s early years were defined by challenge. The road he traveled led him into the corridors of the Florida Department of Corrections, where iron bars and concrete walls sought to confine his body, but never his mind, nor his soul. A high school dropout upon entering incarceration, he resolved that his story would not end in ignorance. He earned his GED, not just passing, but achieving the highest test scores in the entire state of Florida. But this was only the beginning.
In the crucible of confinement, Rashad cultivated his intellect, pursuing higher education with an unbreakable spirit. He graduated with honors from Ashworth University with a degree in Law and was recognized for his academic excellence with induction into the prestigious Delta Epsilon Tau International Honor Society. Where others saw limitation, he saw limitless potential. He became a scholar behind bars, elevating himself and those around him.
The fire of knowledge burned alongside the fire of faith. Rashad authored over 20 books, delving deep into the Arabic syntax of the Holy Quran and its relationship with the mission of the Nation of Islam in the West under the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. His groundbreaking study course, The Calibration Series: The Book of Resurrection; The Book of G.O.D. (Greatness on Display), became a beacon for those seeking guidance, offering incarcerated individuals a structured path to understanding the teachings of the Nation of Islam in the light of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad of Arabia. His legacy is one of unity, bridging the gap between the students of the Nation and the soul-justifying language of divine revelation.
Even in confinement, Rashad’s work extended beyond his own growth. He became a catalyst for unity within the prison system, forging alliances with inmate Imams across ideological divides to establish an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation in over 30 correctional facilities. Where division threatened, he sowed understanding; where despair loomed, he instilled purpose.
In 2021, the doors of incarceration finally opened, but Rashad’s mission had only just begun. As a committed laborer in the Nation of Islam’s 7th Region Prison Reform Ministry, he joined forces with fellow reformers, including P.I.L.R. co-founders Zackariah Muhammad and Clifton X (Dukes). Together, they worked hand in hand with the Florida Department of Corrections’ Chief of Chaplaincy Services to develop a groundbreaking digital initiative—an app designed for inmate tablets. This app will provide access to the teachings of the Nation of Islam, the Holy Quran, and the Sunnah, while also allowing inmates to view select Jumu’ah services from the Nation’s Imam system and engage directly with the 7th Region Prison Reform Ministry.
But Rashad’s vision extends beyond reform—it extends into the fabric of economic empowerment and Islamic excellence. As one of only a few hundred H.U.D.-certified housing counselors in the state of Florida, he works to uplift communities through education and stability. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the founding of Shabazz L.A.B.S. (Life, Art, Business, Social) LLC, a Halal holding company dedicated to acquiring, developing, and operating Halal businesses across America, ensuring that the Muslim diaspora has access to the essentials of faith, commerce, and self-sufficiency.
Now, Rashad stands at the helm of one of the most ambitious projects in the modern Muslim business world—the Rashad Shabazz19 Rest, Relaxation, and Restoration Resorts. A nearly $200 million endeavor, this state-of-the-art retreat will harmonize luxury with faith. The resort will be divided into three distinct sections: one dedicated to world-class comfort and modern amenities, another focused on spiritual restoration and personal rejuvenation, and a third devoted to prayer and the study of the vast universe of Islamic knowledge and sciences. The naming of this enterprise is not an act of self-glorification, but rather a strategic declaration—a reminder to the Muslim world that impeccable conduct and thinking (Rashad), alongside identifying oneself as of the original perfect holy nation created from the earth (Shabazz), is the equation that generates heaven while one is yet alive in a way that is visibly approved by Allah (SWT) (19). More than just a resort, this project is a sanctuary, a declaration that Muslims in the West deserve excellence without compromise.
Through all these phases of his life, Rashad Shabazz remains steadfast in his conviction, unshaken in his devotion, and unwavering in his purpose. His guiding principle echoes through the corridors of time: "Be the best evidence of your faith and work’s power to bring you from a low level to the living physical manifestation of the unseen qualities of ALLAH (SWT)."

Zackariah Muhammad – Founder, Mentor, and Advocate
Zackariah Muhammad is one of the three original founders of P.I.L.R. LLC (Post Incarceration Living Residency), a pioneering program dedicated to helping formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrate into society. With firsthand experience navigating the challenges of reentry, he has devoted his life to empowering others through structured support, mentorship, and economic opportunities.
A former inmate who served over 25 years in both the Florida state and federal prison systems, Zackariah returned home determined to make a difference. He immersed himself in the Nation of Islam’s self-help program and played a crucial role in developing what would ultimately become P.I.L.R. His leadership has been instrumental in creating a continuum of care services that address housing, employment, conflict resolution, and personal development for returning citizens.
In addition to his work with P.I.L.R., Zackariah is the former CEO, President, and Co-Founder of Florida's Ex-Offender Re-Entry and Transition Services, Inc., a Florida-based nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive support for individuals transitioning from incarceration.
For the past eight years, Zackariah has also served as the Nation of Islam’s 7th Region Prison Reform Minister, dedicating his time to rehabilitating and mentoring inmates within the Florida Department of Corrections and the federal prison system. His commitment to faith, family, and service has made him a respected leader, motivational speaker, role model, and mentor for those seeking transformation and redemption.
Beyond his advocacy work, Zackariah has hands-on experience in workforce development. He managed one of the nation’s largest lawn maintenance businesses, where he provided job opportunities for ex-offenders in skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical wiring, tile setting, roofing, and landscaping. His dedication to economic empowerment has helped many individuals build sustainable careers and break the cycle of recidivism.
